Park Management & Improvements

Managing a park this size is complicated and challenging. Many competing park user groups see Franklin Park as their own - and forget that it is a public park for everyone. The Franklin Park Coalition believes that the park is large enough to accomodate all, but only with good management and communication, including policies that respect the many different individuals and groups that use the park. Improvements to the landscape and better management practices help realize our goal of making Franklin Park a place that breaks down boundaries and brings people together for recreation, health, community, and fun!

  • Landscape Restoration

The Franklin Park Coalition works to raise funds and involve volunteers in landscape improvements. Ideas come directly from park users who want to see their favorite places restored.

  • Management Issues

The Franklin Park Coalition continues to advocate for a park-wide Management Plan to address large event coordination, transportation and parking issues, and maintenance. Read draft plans and learn more about how this complicated park is managed. The Coalition has initiated a Woodlands Management Plan to restore the park's forests.
